Handoff Report — Milestone 2 Forensic Integrity Verification Audit

1. Observation

  • Database Schema (apps/backend/prisma/schema.prisma):
    • Line 642: rootImage String? under model Menu
    • Line 656: columnImage String? under model MenuItem
    • Line 657: hoverImage String? under model MenuItem
  • TypeScript Types (packages/types/index.ts):
    • Lines 200-201: columnImage?: string | null and hoverImage?: string | null under export interface MenuItem
    • Line 210: rootImage?: string | null under export interface Menu
  • Elysia Router (apps/backend/src/routes/menus.ts):
    • Lines 42-50: mapping rootImage to menu create data, and mapping columnImage and hoverImage to list of items.
    • Lines 121-122 & 141-142: mapping columnImage and hoverImage to tx.menuItem.update and tx.menuItem.create inside the database transaction block.
    • Lines 64, 69-70 & 168, 174-175: validation definitions (rootImage: t.Optional(t.Nullable(t.String())), etc.) in the Elysia body validation objects.
  • MCP Helper Tools (apps/mcp-server/menu-tools.ts):
    • Lines 185-191: validation schemas checking for columnImage and hoverImage being string or null when defined.
  • MCP Toolkit Handler (apps/mcp-server/menu-toolkit.ts):
    • Lines 46, 57, 58: inputs schemas defining rootImage, columnImage, and hoverImage on the upsert_menu tool.
    • Lines 236-240: mapping rootImage parameter to the API request body.
  • Behavioral Verification Output (test_menu_api_challenger.ts execution):
    • Excerpt from run:
      === STEP 3: Perform correct Menu creation & retrieval ===
      Creation status: 200
      Created menu: {
        "id": 15,
        "name": "challenger-test-1782768911150",
        "payload": null,
        "rootImage": "https://example.com/challenger-root.png",
        ...
      Verification Results:
      - rootImage correct: true (Expected: https://example.com/challenger-root.png, Got: https://example.com/challenger-root.png)
      - columnImage correct: true (Expected: https://example.com/challenger-column.png, Got: https://example.com/challenger-column.png)
      - hoverImage correct: true (Expected: https://example.com/challenger-hover.png, Got: https://example.com/challenger-hover.png)

2. Logic Chain

  1. By examining the database schema (schema.prisma), we observed that the three fields rootImage, columnImage, and hoverImage have been correctly declared as optional strings.
  2. By reviewing the router file (routes/menus.ts), we observed that all routes (POST and PUT) map the new fields properly during creation, update, and deletion within Prisma transactions. No static mapping or bypass logic is present.
  3. By reviewing the MCP server implementation (menu-tools.ts and menu-toolkit.ts), we verified that the tools expose these fields in the input schemas and validate their types correctly before invoking the backend API.
  4. By running the test suite (test_menu_api_challenger.ts), we verified at runtime that values are correctly saved, retrieved, updated, and validated under local PostgreSQL and Bun environment.
  5. Therefore, the implementation contains zero signs of integrity violations or bypasses.

3. Caveats

  • TypeScript checking for apps/backend outputs a large number of errors related to relative file extensions (e.g. TS2835) and implicit any bindings (e.g. TS7006) due to strict nodenext module settings. This is a pre-existing project-wide configuration mismatch rather than a regression of this feature, as it does not prevent Bun from executing the backend cleanly at runtime.

4. Conclusion

The database and backend updates for the Premium Mega Menu (3-image layout) are authentic, complete, and properly integrated without any integrity violations. The verdict is CLEAN.

5. Verification Method

  • To independently run behavioral verification:
    1. Ensure the PostgreSQL container/service is running.
    2. Start the backend: cd apps/backend && bun run start
    3. Execute the challenger test suite: bun apps/backend/test_menu_api_challenger.ts
    4. Inspect the printout results to verify they output Verification Results: ... correct: true.
