  • Empty string sanitization: Verified (mcp-server converts empty string to null)
• Vulnerabilities found:
  • Missing authentication/authorization: The entire categories route (including PATCH /:id/image) does not use the adminOnly middleware.
  • Lack of URL protocol sanitization: The imageUrl string parameter does not restrict schemes, allowing potential protocol-based XSS (e.g. javascript:) if rendered unsafely on the frontend.
• Untested angles: None.

Key Decisions Made

• Confirmed that the implementation meets functional requirements.
• Decided to issue verdict of APPROVE while raising findings for security improvements (lack of auth and URL protocol check) to be addressed in subsequent security hardening tasks.
