# Handoff Report: Milestone 2 Backend & DB Menu Image Fields
|
||
|
||
## 1. Observation
|
||
- **Database Schema**: `/apps/backend/prisma/schema.prisma` lines 638–661 confirms `rootImage String?` on model `Menu` and `columnImage String?`, `hoverImage String?` on model `MenuItem`.
|
||
- **Migration SQL**: `/apps/backend/prisma/migrations/20260629012157_add_menu_image_fields/migration.sql` creates these columns in PostgreSQL.
|
||
- **Elysia API Routes**: `/apps/backend/src/routes/menus.ts` defines Elysia schema validator `t.Optional(t.Nullable(t.String()))` for `rootImage`, `columnImage`, and `hoverImage` inputs.
|
||
- **Run command**: Execution of `bun test_menu_comprehensive.ts` in `/home/ti/git/homaroma/apps/backend` completes successfully, verifying direct API endpoints (GET, POST, PUT), direct PostgreSQL database state, routing type validations (422 responses on invalid types), and MCP Tools (`get_menu`, `upsert_menu`) including their local JS/TS validation checks.

||
## 2. Logic Chain
|
||
- The database schema columns are verified directly via `schema.prisma` and database SQL migrations.
|
||
- The Elysia API schema definitions ensure that type validations check that these fields are indeed strings/null, throwing 422 HTTP responses on incorrect types.
|
||
- The test harness `test_menu_comprehensive.ts` mimics real HTTP request flows using an authorization token to verify the backend behavior, DB persistence, and validations.
|
||
- The MCP tools schema and `menu-toolkit.ts` logic validate parameters and delegate safely to the same endpoints, verifying full end-to-end integration correctness.
|
||
|
||
## 3. Caveats
|
||
- No caveats. The changes are fully tested.
|
||

## 4. Conclusion
|
||
- The database, API routes, and MCP tools changes are verified correct and functional.
|
||
|
||
## 5. Verification Method
|
||
- Execute the following command from `/home/ti/git/homaroma/apps/backend`:
